Ron Bias, a staff member of the Community for Creative Non-Violence, dashes up a staircase illuminated by a colorful work by artist Pat Fox at the CCNV shelter for the homeless on Capitol Hill. Through the efforts of another staff member, Harold Moss, the shelter's hallways and public areas are graced by the works of 200 prominent artists, who donated watercolors, lithographs, wall hangings and African sculpture. "If we're going to encourage people to change their lives, then we have to change the environment they're accustomed to being in," Moss said.
